boys and girls, come out to play the moon doth shine as bright as day leave your supper and leave your sleep and join your playfellows in the street come with a whoop and come with a call come with good will or not at all up the ladder and down the wall a halfpenny loaf will serve us all you bring milk and i will bring flour and we'll have a pudding in half an hour
Well, as the story is told , young Revati was in quite the pudding it’s said. One might think she’d stumbled into some cosmic happenstance, if it weren’t for the other characters involved, not to mention her position and disposition.
Come !
Swiftly and quietly along now. Sprout some wings from your feet!
The Pied Piper calls us into times of yore and places of yonder, when and where the stars and luminaries in the firmament were worshiped as gods, and men worshiped themselves as the self-appointed representatives of these gods on earth.
Long long ago in a place called India now Long ago in another age, another way waay out there time ( was had by all...) There were lots of kings and princes, every neighborhood had their share. There were sages by the dozen, sages here and sages there. One such majestic and princely sage one such stellarly outfitted dude, was known in his town and the general locale by the name of King Kakudmi. To his pals, King Kakud. His name was King Kakudmi, and his kingdome was Kusasthali And his kingdome was way way waaay down under, I'm saying way down under the sea. King Kakudmi in Kusasthali had a daughter named Revati. She seemed quite demure, yet they both agreed, none of the dudes hanging in the depths there, would fulfill the need. They were no match for his daughter she was made of better stuff so he took her up to Brahma to request an upgrade of such prospects, as may await, her desire for a better fate. Brahma was busying brahmaing away, and they had to wait an hour, which turned out to be a cosmic day. There they waited in a bower of ether and sound while Brahma was singing; until Brahma came around. King Kakudmi spoke a list of names of candidates he approved ; which one would Brahma allow him to claim? Which one would fit the groove? Revati was a lusty gal, and loved the finer pleasures of sex and wealth and opulence, having been raised amongst sunken treasures. Brahma laughed in a jolly brah-manic mood and answered "listen dude, you've slipped the grooves. 27 catur-yugas have elapsed, and these dudes you're thinking of have long ago passed." Then Brahma scratched his airy whiskers with fingers made of airy feathers, and smiling with contentment said "I know just the dude to fill the bed. His younger bro is Krishna, that's Vishnu, you know? His name is Balarama and he is Adi Shesha that mighty serpent we all know." So King Kakudmi made the deal; he considered Balarama a steal. Revati was ecstatic. She would finally move out of the attic. But Revati , tender maid, though desiring to be happy had been fashioned of far greater stuff in her birthtime, that long ago age. Balarama was a sapling, standing under a mighty and majestic tree. Now , how he did what the story says is a mystery to me. So if you'll follow along, maybe you can see, and maybe then you can tell Clueless Me. It's told in the story all the versions relate that said Balarama reached way, waayy up (how high up? they do not relate) and smashed her with his plow upon the pate. What a coward!! What a wimp!! What a monster!! What a tale!! What a horror!! What horseshit! This time dudes, you've gone far beyond the pale. As if he had the power; as if he had the strength, to bring her down to (his)size; to hold her in restraint. No mention of a mother, as King Kakudmi's mate; Revati's daddy's daughter is all we're meant to take from this tale of men's arrangements, of their hubris and their sate who claim the powers of creation to colour them with their fates. But wait!.....do not decide in haste that this is all there is to make of this story, so false, so true; this story about them, and me, and you. The stars never moved by human design Rather humans are puppets strung by Time Upon the Weave and the Design Of All That IS and Lives Outside of Time untouched by Design in the Cauldron of Plenty in the Magic of Mind For it's Mercury who leads Revati astray That shape shifting trickster who can make night into day And the better fate she sought Reduced her to nought With a mighty mate who fought To have his way, to be on top He knocked her down to size ( smallness) He put her in her place And Revati has no skills There is no earthly place For those who think they are better For those who want the most As they neither live nor die Lost to the endless sky Of their schemes and their dreams And the pleasures that satisfy Revati was a princess, her fate's for you to decide For now, my friends, it's time for us To bid Revati and her man goodbye For King Kakudmi is satisfied And Brahma laughs all through the sky And the tales told by men, you see Are only repeated by Mercury Who likes a joke, a feint, a trick And a double deal. Mercury is quite the prick Sometimes a woman, sometimes a man Always a child Insisting, "I Can!!" Awesome! I enjoyed this very much.
Loved this tale! Your writing style is so easy to read and get lost in.
So many stacks I read, I start to scroll to see:
